I’m Diane Burroughs, and I am the face behind my blog, Leftat50.com. My 24 –year-relationship ended when I was cheated on and left the year I turned 50. Needless to say, this was a painful, life-changing (and life-shattering) event. I had no idea what my future would be. How I would make a living? Where I was going to live? My Future was Unknown. How scary is it to realize that when you’re 50? As I shared my life dilemma with others, one thing became abundantly clear – Everyone knew a woman around my age who was going through the exact same thing! I was not alone in this. I decided it was time for me to get up off the floor and share my journey with the Group of Leftat50 Gals who were done wallowing and ready to live a life of their own making. And that is how Leftat50 was born. Now, several thousand of us connect all over the world. Unexpectedly, women in such far-flung places as Bangladesh and Vietnam have found the site. And what’s more, these women are connecting and giving advice to each other! This has brought me so much joy! I just want to continue to find ways to make more women aware of one of the only places on the Internet where they can check in with each other, seek information, share support, and get on with the journey of the rest of their lives. All of you reading this deserve better. Let’s be real about what our options are…to be left and to rebuild…our lives, in some cases, also our careers, and most importantly ourselves.
